Children of the Night Timeline intro

Since the formation of M.O.N.S.T.A.A.H. in the year 2000, it has fallen upon my shoulders, as the group's chief historian, to create a timeline for important events concerning our efforts to keep the world safe from supernatural menaces.

Shortly before her death Professor Maggie Walsh deleted all computer data which may have incriminated her. Unfortunately the archives of the League of Anti-Diabolists were part of this purge.

Reconstructing the work of centuries has not been an easy task. I have spent many days and hours pouring through the hard copy files in the basement of our secret Bonaport, branch headquarters. The following report merely scratches the surface of a long history of humanity's struggle with werewolves, vampire and undead menaces in general.

There are also many other Demon hunters, of note, not mentioned in this report, such as Captain Kronos, Prof. Abronsius, Dokter Rotmann, Dr. Natalie Lambert and Carl Kolchak. I will include these and others, when new information is revealed to me. Any reports from my colleagues will be appreciated.

This report would not have been possible without information and feedback from Professors Power, Brown, Carbis, Baugh, Eckert, Small, Lofficier, Mengel, Bollman, Lai, and Winkle.

Prof. Brown's article THE HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, provided the template for this research. Prof. Lofficier's original research concerning members of the Van Helsing family was also invaluable. Prof. Power was with me almost every step of the way with a tremendous amount of research and suggestions. truly to make Prof. Loridans' excellent timeline more informative than ever.

Just a few other points I would like to make here, including a few answers to some questions you are

likely to have.

The original text of this timeline was composed by Prof. Loridans and Prof. Matthew Baugh, with

many notes from Prof. Dennis Power included. This updated version retains virtually all of the

original text (with a few updates and corrections here and there), but with a considerable amount of

supplementary text added by yours truly--Prof. Chris Nigro--with much of the new theories presented

being extrapolated from the research of several Wold Newton scholars in addition to Prof.'s Loridans,

Baugh, and Power, including: Prof.'s Ivan Ronald Schablotski, Jay Lindsey, Henry Covert, Mike

Ongcsinco, Win Scott Eckert, Brad Mendel, Zahir Blue, Robert Wronski Jr., Rick Lai, Gordon Long,

Art Bollman, Pete Coogan, Michael Winkle, Loki Carbis, Jean-Marc Lofficier, and others, all credited

where relevant.

Without the inspiration from the above mentioned august body of researchers, the impetus provided

to yours truly to restore and upgrade Prof. Loridans' fantastic piece of work would probably never

have happened. My thanks and appreciation to all of the above, and more of you out there besides!

This upgraded timeline, like its original version, is designed to work within the framework established

by Win Scott Eckert, and as extrapolated upon by Dennis Power, for what we call the "consensus"

Wold Newton Universe [WNU]; where occasional disagreements may arise, it is always with the

interest of resolving them through future research. Unlike the original version of this timeline, I have

included relevant crossovers that involve the monsters' interactions with super-heroes, something

that Prof. Loridans was averse to. The reason for this is because, as established by Prof.'s Eckert

and Power, a very limited number of super-heroes do exist in the WNU, and the monsters can be

expected to interact with them from time to time. Further, I make a point both here--and in the timeline

itself--to be clear about the fact that these are the WNU versions of these super-heroes and their

corresponding villains, not the respective versions from the Marvel Universe [MU] and DC Universe

[DCU]. The WNU versions of these heroes do not stray from the guidelines established by Prof.

Eckert, and the events as published in Marvel and DC Comics most often occur quite a bit differently

in their WNU analogues, which will be reflected in this timeline. Also please note the following points:

some of the crossovers between the monsters and super-heroes involve significant events in the

histories of the monsters; many established monster hunters that had a prominent place in the

original timeline could easily be considered super-heroes except for the fact that they did not wear

colorful costumes; certain hero characters straddle the line between monsters and heroes, and in the

spirit of this timeline the WNU versions of the Hulk and Wolverine can be considered monster

characters; certain super-hero and -villain characters are of such a nature that they are right at home

in a monster universe, including Dr. Strange, the Shroud, the Lizard, the Phantom Stranger, the

Cheetah, and Solomon Grundy--all of which serve as further reasons behind my decision to include

some of the significant crossovers involving super-heroes (and villains).

My modus operandi for the material I include on this timeline, and in the accompanying articles on

this site, includes a heavy caveat towards being inclusive over that of exclusive, so I will try to fit in

as much as possible, since establishing a single coherent timeline for disparate versions of the three

main monster characters and lineages that appear in a diverse spectra of mediums (e.g., prose,

cinema, television, comic books, video games, role-playing games) is very much in theme with the

spirit of this site as originally established by Prof. Loridans.

One question you are likely to have is, "Why do you refer to Marvel Comics in this timeline (and

certain articles on this site) as 'Marvels Comics,' with the 's' at the end of 'Marvel'?" The answer is

actually quite simple. In the context of the comics about Marvel characters published within the MU,

the company is referred to as Marvels Comics, not "Marvel." This was established in 2000 when

Marvel published a series of one-shot comics that depicted how comics about its various characters

appear within the MU itself, the flagship title of this line referred to as The History of Marvels Comics,

as seen here, with two examples of the individual issues of the line being here and here. Hence,

it's my conjecture that within the WNU, the comic company is likewise known as Marvels Comics, as

it includes much of the same disinformation and "made up" factoids that appear in the MU versions of

those comics (and also in the DC Comics of the WNU, of course).

this site, to those who may not be in the know:
